Jikiden Reiki

WHAT IS JIKIDEN REIKI?

Reiki is a nonreligious healing technique founded and developed by Mr. Mikao Usui.
Jikiden means 'directly taught' in Japanese, which refers to the fact that it has not been influenced by the West. Its methods and understanding that are passed on are the same as the original Shinshin kaizen Usui Reiki Ryoho (Usui Reiki Treatment Method for improvement of Body and Mind.), which is the original term for Reiki treatment.

Mr. Usui established the first Reiki organization -The Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai - which still exists today but sadly does not promote the teaching and circulation of Reiki or provides treatment and is not well known.

Dr. Chujiro Hayashi was one of only twenty masters that Mr. Usui taught in his lifetime. Hawayo Takata was a Japanese-American living in Hawaii when doctors there declared that she was terminally ill and did not have long to live. She came to Japan for an operation but once here, met Dr. Hayashi and received treatments from him instead. Within a year, she was cured of her illness and went on to learn Reiki, return to Hawaii, and establish a healing clinic there. This was the beginning of Western Reiki.

As Western Reiki spread throughout the World, it was thought that the original style of Reiki had died out in Japan and so even Japanese who wanted to know more about Reiki had to go to America to study. Yet Reiki had not died out in Japan. Mrs. Chiyoko Yamaguchi learned Reiki directly from Dr. Hayashi in 1938, and practiced for over 65 years until her death in 2003. Mrs. Yamaguchi established the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Kyoto Japan with her son Mr. Tadao Yamaguchi.

Today Jikiden Reiki is re-introducing the original, authentic style and lineage of Reiki to Japan and the rest of the world.

WHAT IS REIKI?

Reiki practitioners treat illness by a simple method of laying hands on the body in order to re-awaken the natural healing process and improve the health of body and mind. Reiki practitioners are also able to focus energy by distant healing. In addition to improving physical health, Reiki is also effective reducing or eliminating bad habits.
