Area Paperfolding Enthusiasts Roundtable (PAPER) is a regional group
dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of the art and craft of Origami.
We meet regularly on the second Sunday of the month at Bellevue Regional
Library. All are welcome to join us. Our formal activities tend to
be in the intermediate to high-intermediate level of folding. Children
are welcome provided their parents stay with them during the meeting.
Folders who would like to attend should be able to fold a crane and,
with some proficiency, be able to execute reverse and sink folds.
In addition to our monthly meetings, PAPER also participates in community
programs. We have taught origami at events such as the Eastside Nihon
Matsuri Association's Aki Matsuri, Seattle Cherry Blossom Festival,
the Bellevue Arts and Crafts Fair, the First Saturday program at SAAM,
Ikebana International, Bellevue Art Museum, Children's Festival at
Seattle Center, and Sakura-Con Anime Festival. In August 1999 PAPER
hosted the Origami Regional Conference of America at the University
of Washington. In February 2002, PAPER hosted an international exhibit
of origami artists at the Train Depot Gallery in Anacortes, WA. PAPER
is a "local area group" of Origami-USA (OUSA) www.origami-usa.org.
