Washington Koi and Watergarden Society

The Washington Koi and Watergarden Society were formed by koi and watergarden enthusiast to educate themselves and the public about the care and challenges of Koi keeping and watergardening.


The society has over 150 members and hosts a membership meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of the month with the exception of the month of December. The meetings give members a chance to ask questions and discuss the merits of various approaches to the hobby.


The meeting program includes presentations on a variety of koi and watergarden topics by area experts. Topics range from water chemistry in the pond, to the techniques of the pond building to the use of plants in and around the pond area


The Washington Koi and Watergarden Society present an annual Koi and Watergarden Show on the weekend after Labor Day. The 2008 show will be held at County Village in Bothell Washington. Over 200 koi will be on display and four international judges will evaluate and select the winners on Saturday. Public viewing of the koi takes place on Saturday from 2:00 PM until 5:00PM and again on Sunday from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM.


The Society also is also a member of the Pacific Northwest Koi Association, which hosts an annual seminar for all the koi clubs of the northwest. This year's seminar is scheduled for September 12th through and 14th in Post Falls Idaho.
