Originally in Japan, kimono (ki meaning wear and mono meaning thing)
was meant to indicate clothing, a "thing to wear". Kimono
is traditional Japanese clothing and has been worn for years by people
in Japan.
Western-style clothing began to be worn in Japan from the late
19th and the beginning of the 20th Century, and is the "everyday
attire". However, the traditional full-length formal kimono
continues to be an important part of the dress of Japan.
Nowadays since they don't have much opportunities to wear as much
as they used to, it is getting a trend hobby to make something creative
from used Kimono cloth.
Chieko has been making bags, pendants, tissue cases etc with her
original designs.
They are so colorful and beautiful, the most greatest thing is she
enjoys making them and
hoping the person who buys will enjoy using them.
Global warming is a big worry for all of us in the world. We must
think of what we can do at the daily basis, everywhere at home or
in public. Here is one of the ideas, making beautiful bags made of
papers which Chieko's daughter Reiko has been making. She uses strips
made of papers to make bags or trays. All the paper strips are recycled
ones. Isn't it a fun way to save our world?
All of the crafts Chieko and Reiko make are so individual and the
only ones in the world.
