Seattle
born Bobby 'Sushiman' Suetsugu began his sumo career at the early
age of 15, when his family and teachers encouraged him to visit
Japan for a summer and learn about the venerated tradition of sumo
wrestling. He refers to this experience as a 'strict and manly life'
which he became quite accustomed to. Bobby spent the next 10 years
at a sumo-beya learning the old ways of control, respect and discipline.
Bobby will speak on sumo traditions. He will then take volunteers
through a series of stretching exercises the rikishi perform each
day in their beya.
