IYR and Peak Performance Sword Systems. For the past seventeen years
here in the Northwest, McCartney Sensei has refined this style of
swordsmanship to a representation that works equally well in form
as it does in function. The look, feel and effectiveness of it today
are the culmination of nearly 30 years of continual research. It has
been brought to a place where tradition and innovation meet as the
modern application of an ancient way.
In the year 2000 Sensei shattered a previous record in time, difficulty
and number of cuts on tournament class targets with a perfect run
of 1181 consecutive cuts without a single missed attempt in an amazing
one hour and twenty-five minutes as the new Guinness Book World Record
holder of the sword division. Again in 2007 he set yet another record
for the fastest 4 cuts on one target in an astounding one second flat.
His codified teaching, training method and technique has produced
three National Champions in tournament challenge activity and three
members of his school hold four World Records. Instructors such as
Steve Baxter a second degree Blackbelt can be found in the greater
Seattle area and Bellevue as well across the United States and as
far away as Belgrade, Serbia where last year as an already five time
Hall of Fame inductee, he accepted his sixth induction into the European
Martial Arts Hall of Fame and was voted one of only three lifetime
memberships to their Grandmasters council.
McCartney Sensei continues to lecture at seminars teaching his Certified
Instructor Training program while promoting swordsmanship around the
world. He also frequently appears in and is a contributing writer
to Black Belt Magazine as sword master and writer in their sword forum
section.
