Karate is a way of protecting yourself and others from injury by others using strikes, kicks, and throws intending to disable an attacker as quickly as possible. Karate also is a means of building the mind, the body, and the spirit of the practitioner through discipline and fellowship.

Goju-Ryu Karate (Goju-Ryu meaning hard/gentle school, of the empty hand) originates form the Okinawan port city of Naha.

The owner of West Seattle Karate Academy and lead instructor is Kris Wilder. Kris began his training in Karate in 1979 and has authored books on the subject of Karate.
