2009 Aki Matsuri Information


The 12th Annual Aki Matsuri


A celebration of Japan's rich cultural heritage
presented by the Eastside Nihon Matsuri Association (ENMA)


When:
Saturday, September 12 (10 a.m. - 6 p.m.) and
Sunday, September 13 (11 a.m. - 5 p.m.), 2009

Admission and Parking are Free!

(Please note that some workshops/lectures require pre-registration and fee.)




Japan comes to the Bellevue College (BC) for a weekend! A two-day program of Japanese cultural and educational events for all ages!

The popular programs include exhibit booths of Japanese fine art & craft and Japan-related businesses & organizations, martial art demonstrations, performing art performances, Children's Theatre/Puppet Shows, Nomi-no-ichi (Japanese style flea market), Yatai (food stalls), raffle drawing, etc.


2009 Aki Matsuri features:
Tsugaru Nuri (Lacquerware) exhibit and on-going demonstrations by Tsugaru nuri craftsman, Mr. Kozo Fujino from Hirosaki City, Japan.
A lecture on Tsugaru as one of the last undiscovered areas of Japan by Tsugaru District Researcher, Professor Anthony S. Rausch (PhD) from Hirosaki University.
Yakumaru Nodachi Jigen-ryu (one of the classic Martial Arts of Japan) ... demonstrations by representatives of Yakumaru Nodachi Jigen-ryu dojo in Kagoshima and Tokyo.
18th Annual Koi Show by Washington Koi & Water Garden Society
