Greetings
from the Consul General of Japan
2011 Aki Matsuri (Fall Festival)
|
Dear
friends and community members, I would like to thank the Eastside
Nihon Matsuri Association, Bellevue College, volunteers, and attendees
for supporting the 14th Annual Aki Matsuri. Your participation is
deeply appreciated.
This year will forever be remembered as the year Japan endured the
Great East Japan Earthquake and the following tsunami. Absolutely,
there is much work remaining to be done before Japan can claim a full
recovery. However, it is sure that Japan will emerge more prosperous,
balanced, and secure as a result of overcoming this hardship.
Japan is grateful for the heartfelt kindness of the people of Seattle,
the Puget Sound and the Pacific Northwest. Since the Great East Japan
Earthquake, your messages of hope and concern continue to remind us
of the deep affinity that exists between Japan and the United States.
The 14th Annual Aki Matsuri is a wonderful opportunity to honor this
special relationship. It brings us together as individuals, as a community,
and as a culture.
I wish to express my sincere gratitude to all of you for giving us
the opportunity to meet with many esteemed representatives of Japanese
culture here in Washington. May we enjoy this special opportunity
to remember and appreciate the success and progress of the year so
far, and encourage the continued development of our arts and talents.
