Taiko Workshops at Aki Matsuri!
~ Beat a Different Drum~
Come Learn Taiko (Japanese drumming)
at the 14th Annual Aki Matsuri, a Japanese Cultural Arts Festival!

Experience
the Taiko art form hands-on! RTG-Seattle, an alliance of 9 performing
taiko groups in Seattle, hosted a series of taiko workshops and demonstrations.
|
*NOTE: All workshop participants (or parent/guardian for those
under age 18) will be required to sign a liability waiver on arrival
prior to the workshop.

A) Family Taiko Workshop -- for children under 9 years
old, with parent/adult helper.
Drop by the RTG Booth and we will "talk story" about taiko,
show how to make your own "gomi-kan taiko" (play drum),
give a taiko demonstration, and let the kids hit drums with real taiko
style!
- September 10 (Saturday), from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and September
11 (Sunday) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m
- Location: BC main campus, Courtyard in front of "L" Building [campus
map]
- Drop-in any time - no registration needed
- $10 suggested donation if you make a gomi-kan taiko to take home

B) All-Ages Taiko Workshop (Saturday) -- for youth (9-21
years) and adults
Learn the fundamentals of taiko rhythm, movement and spirit through
drumming games, easy songs and simple (but possibly strenuous!) movements.
Release tensions, improve rhythm and coordination, have fun!
- September 11 (Saturday), from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Pre-Registration by e-mail (info2011@enma.org)
by September 7, 2011: $20 adults, $15 youth (9-21)
- On-site Registration: $25 adults, $20 youth
- Space is limited to 16 participants
