~ Recognizing our 2011 Sponsors ~
The
Eastside Nihon Matsuri Association is greatly honored to have
the following Major Sponsors as partners in presenting the 14th
Annual Aki Matsuri. Our shared goal of "building bridges
between the people of Japan and the USA are being met through
this cultural event that emphasizes the nurturing and promotion
of the cultural arts of Japan". Aki Matsuri is the interface,
the place where a shared interest in the arts can bring citizens
together in a friendly and educational environment.
The continuation and success of this community event is
made possible through the generous support of our benevolent
benefactors. We hope you will make your appreciation known to
these few that come to the fore in support of this important
Northwest Japanese Cultural Art Exposition.

Japanese
American Citizens League, Lake Washington Chapter
- The Lake Washington chapter was formed around 1980 by a current
board member, John Matsumoto, and other Nisei who saw a need
for a JACL chapter responsive to the interests and needs of
Japanese Americans on the Eastside. The chapter was involved
in 1997 with helping bring a Japanese drama to the Meydenbauer
Theater as a major highlight of Japan Week in Bellevue. The
next year, when Japan Week in Bellevue disbanded, the chapter
helped get the Aki Matsuri started, serving for two years as
its fiscal and non-profit agent.
|
|
|
Since
then, JACL members have been much involved in many aspects of
the Matsuri. The Lake Washington chapter is one of 112 chapters
nationally comprising the Japanese American Citizens League,
founded in 1929 and is the oldest Asian American civil rights
organization in the United States. Website: www.jacl.org.
